This article delves into the comparative analysis of prepositions in English and their counterparts, postpositions, in the Kyrgyz language. Through a comparative-typological approach, it explores the semantic and grammatical equivalences between these two linguistic systems. The research identifies the theoretical and practical significance of filling the existing gap in English-Kyrgyz linguistics, offering a valuable resource for language educators and learners. Particular attention is given to spatial and directional prepositions/postpositions, highlighting the intricate interplay between linguistic forms and cultural cognition. As a result of the theoretical and review analysis of the literature devoted to the study of the categories of English prepositions in comparison with their Kyrgyz equivalents, it was established that in the Kyrgyz language the categories of prepositions correspond to suffixes, function words, affixes to the root.

The study emphasizes the importance of understanding prepositional usage not only as a linguistic phenomenon but also as a means of fostering cross-cultural communication and comprehension.
